Changing rims, will I notice difference in width?

Right now I have 17x9.5 Rota Grids on my accord, and I'm looking to switch to a smaller width. The reason being the tires I have now are stretched (215/40/17), which isn't exactly safe...and if I go bigger they will rub. I can't for the life of me find any good looking wheels that are 8-8.5 inches wide online, and have only been able to find 7-7.5 inches.

Anyway, if I drop 2-2.5 inches in width, will I notice such a significant change? What are your experiences? I'm asking because I like the look of the wider rims, and wouldn't mind dropping slightly, but 2 inches seems like a lot.

Thanks for the feedback!

Ha, no! Sorry. I'm sitting a little low at the moment, I don't know exact height, but probably about 3/4in - 1in from tire to fender? I can almost fit 2 fingers between tire and fender if that provides a better perspective.

I'm actually looking to raise it about 1/2 - 3/4 inch this coming week, roads are awful around here.

You sound like the old guy that stretched my tires... Basically told me my car would explode..
Keep air pressure up and they're just as safe as any other tire

You're not low enough and you want to go with skinnier wheels, thats why you got facepalmed.. and there's plenty of wheels that come in 8-8.5" width .
