OP you should listen to both of these guys. They know what they are talking about, have a lot of time in and have done their research.

I would never put one of those cheap Chinese made turbos on my car either. No offense 1NOnly, I know for the most part you know a lot about this too, but I think you are the minority when it comes to these turbos lasting like they should without modification.

OP, if it were me I would take the money I saved on the motor and put it toward a quality turbo.

You are all right about the ebay China turbo. It's an xspower t3. It's not the best but not the worst either. It's just to start. Won't be around for long. If I even decide to go with if at all. Through my research I learned h22's aren't to boost friendly stock. I have every intention. Of completely building the bottom end. including resleeving pistons rods etc.

At cantaffordaccord , sorry for jumping at you. I've just been excited and working towards getting this build before I even joined this forum. Just kinda felt like you were tryin to knock mg exxitment down a notch. Thanks for the support.

Jmiller... thanks for the advice. You can trust that no matter how much research j e done it is second to the works and advice I get from any and everyone that has a snail under the hood or has prior experience with it. You all, the real people I talk to are my influence and inspiration for this build. I want to do it right and will have many questions. And I thank you all in advance for the help.

h22a4s have the open deck so that's better cooling than the other h's

I would just sell the turbo and get a brand name one like precision, borg warner, garrett, turbonetics etc... you don't really want to spend all this time swapping in the motor only to have it ruined by broken compressor blades. As for boosting the H22, you will be fine if you have a good tune, run a safe boost level, and don't beat the piss out of it all the time. Good luck with the build bro.

It's been a while coming, but finally landed the beginning of my build.
JDM H22a4 (yeah yeah yeah some of you are thinking "how is it JDM if it's an 'a4'" read the vin. japan didn't only make the h22a, they did them all, after all honda is a japanese company)

The term JDM or USDM is referring to the spec of the engine, not the manufacture location. The h22a4 is a USDM engine. Sorry to burst your bubble.

You should have tried to find a closed deck motor boost, they tend to last a little longer under pressure. That motor will do fine though. . . That turbo, I am skeptical about. Good luck!
