Re: Going for a re-tune.... (updated 7/30/12 -- Dyno vid & info on Page 38)

I have a better video, but it was from a cell phone, and the quality of video and sound is so low It's not even worth posting. The second time around i'll make sure I get a better one (now that I know how to work my camera ha-ha).

The sound of that turbo is insane, it's all I hear when getting on it, is the super loud hissing of it just screaming.

Much respect for taking the car elsewhere for tuning, Devin. Guys are making 400+ with stock ignition, TB, and IM, 750cc injectors, in-tank walbros and tubular log mani's like yours on stock block D16's. With a more reasonable turbo and IC, I don't see why you can't do it as well. Get on it already! :darryl:

Thanks! Yeah for right now just the intercooler is all I need to upgrade and i'm golden to hit my goals!

I know nothing about turbo set ups, but that thing sounds beastly. And the numbers are damn impressive, awesome job

Thank you!

Great job sir! When you get the other parts this thing is going to be hard to get traction in boost! But you will probly have some good tire's to try to grip!
I want that quaife lsd. Its mad legit!

Thank you! This is true, i'm already spinning pracitically all the way through third gear... (more because of the low quality khumo excsta tires that I have in the front), it'll be worse later.... Looks like i'll have to get me some drag radials or slicks soon!

What khumo excstas do you have? The XSs are really good tires. Got a couple buddies that run them for AutoX tires. nice a sticky ;). Is your trans still open diff?

I have the AST's actually. No open diff for this guy, I got thee Quaiffe which helps a ton. You really start noticing the difference at this whp level no doubt. Lay down two tread marks instead of just one.....

Well I'm working on a few things to go for that number I really want to get to.

I have ordered some parts to get better set up for that final tune on this turbo:

- Turbo Oil return line kit and oil pan (to stop the leaking at the AN fittings and the bung on the pan)
- Wiring, distribution block, etc. to relocate the battery to the trunk for a better intake for the turbo and not so close to the exhaust and engine. This will help drastically improve numbers and intake temperatures.

Once I repair the oil return line, and also get the intake better situated, i'll be purchasing the intercooler and do some fabrication/modifications to make it fit and then go for the tune and have it finally break that goal that I want to hit....

So far so good!

Look up the R and L series intercoolers from Go-Autoworks. Greg's an upstanding guy and stands behind everything he sells. I picked up the R model from him for my build.

http://WWW.GO-AUTOWORKS-STORE.COM/goin.html

Dang good pricing too! $175 for the R series capable of 500hp.. not bad at all, but I know down the road I may upgrade and want to go for more so I may want to go with Precision's 600hp one which is 3" to 3.5" longer in length... depending on Garrett Cores versus precision, that 3-3.5" seem to make the difference between the 500/600 levels, do you think that would seem to make that big of a difference? I would rather oversize for future (in case it is ever desired in all honesty).

What's your opinion AFAccord?

Thanks! Just got the oil return kit in the mail today. Battery stuff will be in here by the end of the week i'm hoping, and new oil pan would be early next week!

Should be moving in the right direction here soon!

All parts are in with exception of the new negative battery connector. I spent the last few days working on my interior a little bit, but hopefully the other stuff will happen this weekend!

I was actually thinking the L series might be better suited to your needs. He rates his in-house stuff in whp.

"Dyno tested to efficiently flow well up to 550whp."

How do you like your clutch? I've been debating between the XTG6 which is rated way more than I'll ever need, or the XTSD like you have that's only rated to 385ft/lbs. I really want the smooth engagement of the full disc, but if I hit my 400whp mark, it'll likely be quite a bit more torque at the flywheel than the SD is rated for. I really wish we could see your torque numbers. How would you rate the XTSD for your setup? If you could go back, would you buy the same clutch?
