my dad lives over there. In Tokyo. Dont care to see if he is okay though (Tokyo isnt anywhere directly near the Pacific coast lol). Havent talked to him in 3 years

I was speechless when I watched this live. I've never seen coverage like this even 04 wasn't this well shown as it happened. Roy unless they live in NE Japan near the coast they're probably alright according to CNN almost no phone contact is happening in the country . No trains, planes, nothing......

This is def not good at all. It will be interesting to see what happens to us in the next 2 hours or so. I'm so happy that I live in an area that doesn't have major natural disasters.

Fox News has reported that 4 people in CA. have been washed out to sea, one of which has already been reported dead. This has happened in I believe. Scary sht, at least I is teh scared.

hope everyone with family/friends being affected are able to get in touch soon, and any worries are put to rest.

I saw a story about surfers waiting for the waves to hit in CA, and a bunch of others gathering just to watch. if it's someone like that who was washed out, it's hard to feel too sorry for them.

it's morbid, but in a way disasters like this are impressive. we spend so much time building up our "civilizations", working to buy houses, working to fill those with more things that we buy, thinking that's the point of things. and then it all gets washed away by something that we can't prevent in spite of how strong we think we've become.

very glad to see that buildings in Japan held up to the quakes for the most part.
