I'm doing the DIY method of soldering my own led into place with the resistor, and the limited amount of space is what makes it a PITA.
I'm going to try to work the led to where it points forward, and not towards the side for better light.
Thankfully I'm out in a week for thanksgiving, so i'm just going to wait until then, and use this time now to brainstorm. lol

Which gear selector lights are you doing? the ones in the gauge cluster? or the ones on the floor shifter?

Thank GOD you finally fixed the thread title misspelling, haha.

The floor. I saw the blue bulbs you had FS and they'd look great if they were white. Makes me wanna get some, lol. Did you do anything to them or just remove old/replace new?

For the floor shifter, follow this DIY: http://forums.acuralegend.org/diy-t....html?s=9d6d7431075e15e3bac523711a53604e&

Exactly how I did mine, and the BEST results. You'll never get even lighting by just replacing that one bulb. The only 74 sized bulb they make always has one led pointing upwards. Just get some 3mm leds from superbrightleds.com, then some 470 ohm 1/2 watt resistors, get a soldering iron if you don't have one, some heat shrink tubing, and some wire. :)

Ugh. Just seems like A LOT of trouble to go to, lol. I just hate tearing **** apart and wiring, lol. Dammit. And yes, I can solder and know how. I just hate messing with tiny little resistors and all that ****.

The buttons on my AC controls are blue-ish so now I know I need to remove the those filters. Forgot about those, lol. Hopefully those buttons pop on and off or theres a way to remove the filter without ruining the buttons or whole thing. That ***** is expensive to replace and Id hate to do so just because of one button.

The buttons just kinda fall off if yours is like mine. I found that out the hard way when I opened mine the first time ever, upside down....

...make sure not to do that.... :lawl:

Ive pulled that thing out about a dozen times now. Maybe more. Buttons havent fallen off yet. What I meant was, I wanna remove the blue filters. In order to do so, Id need to pop the outter button off, correct? I wanna make sure that it'll pop back on.

Do the fan and temp knobs just pull off?

Also, put a small piece of foil in my clock and it is FINALLY as bright as the odo and HVAC LCD's. But...it is a slightly greener shade of blue. Which makes no sense cuz the blue bulb behind the HVAC screen is from the same vendor as the clock...is there a different filter behind the clock?

Good link Bax.

I'll have to double check the clock but Im still pretty sure that the LED I put in there wasnt lighting up at all, what-so-ever. Maybe the foil will help. I'll play with that on my own.

My knobs came out great and I didnt have to remove them at all. I tried putting a blue LED in the temp knob and it did this cool blue thing but it didnt look right, so i put a white one in there.

Now that I know the buttons pop off, and will pop back on, I can remove those filters. I'll have to do the same with the CC and sunroof buttons, too.

Re: LED Bubl Size

I know
As rude and arrogant as shenaniganz is sometimes, you have to admit he DOES know what he's doing. I have learned a lot simply by reading what he posts here and mostly over at v6p. He definitely has my respect.

Haha just found this thread while searching Google for an LED picture of mine

Yeah so I've been told, but I put a lot of work into the things I mod
and try to do DIY threads (when i had free time) to give back to the community

as far as I can tell I'm the only guy who took their time to get a 100% hot spot free LED setup.. It sounds simple but it's a lot of work to get results like this.
