Making a V-TEC indicator light

Performance wise, I don't think we'll see any real improvment. Im just of the opinion that a higher VTEC acuation point would be more pronounced. The reason we dont feel VTEC is because when it hits, the motor hasn't free'd itself up enough to really give a pronounced response.

hmm, i tried to do this mod but it's not working. there are 5 plugs in all. 3 are small and 2 are big plugs. i tried to wire the green with yellow stripe (small wires) from "both" big plugs. it doesn't light up as much. but when i go over about 30 mph, it blinks in a very dim light. other than that, i can't find any green wire with yellow stripes. picture would help alot.

edit_also, there was a seperate plug that doesn't connect directly to the box. it's connected through another connector which is on the very bottom of the fuse box.

Once I get off of work I can post of a scematic. The VTEC wire your looking for is in the forward most ECU plug towards the cabin, green/yellow wire. What I did is wire it to light up my cruise control light, my cruise doesn't work anyway. If you want, I can get some pictures of the wires that need to be cut in order to make it light the cruise indicator light up.

if you can, could you take a picture of where you wire it. so far, i just left the LED out of nowhere. right in between my steering wheel and gauges. if i could get this to work, i will zip-tie my wires from the passenger side also. but it's kinda funny how my LED blinks when i go over 30 mph and not by the rpm. LOL

I dunno what wire you caught,lol. I'll snap a picture when I get off around 7-8pm. Do you have the correct resistor wired into the LED???

there's 2 big plugs on the bottom. and 3 small plugs on top. i cut the bottom 'big' plugs that is green wire with yellow strip. the LED i bought came with the resistor. basically the resistor shouldn't affect the light. because the resistor is only if there's too much power going into the LED, that resistor will stop it from over powering the LED. but i have a 12v 5mm LED i got from autodirectsave.com. even if i didn't get the right resistor, the LED shouldn't light up right? unless i have to have a specific resistor along with the LED.

If it's pre-resistored you've got nothing to worry about as far as that goes. Do you have an auto or manual?? I know the manual has three plugs on the ECU, and the auto has 5. I have a manual, the VTEC wire will be the same between all the models. It's in the forward most plug towards the cabin. I'll take some pics for ya'.

yea, i have an auto. 99 accord V6. i didn't fully cut the wire. i just cut a small cover piece and then wired it. i was afraid i might mess up plus the wires might come loose so i didn't cut it the whole way. but i can wait for the pictures 'til tonight since i'm about to go back to work. thanks

I hate looking under there. I've been under there cutting wires like its my job. I'm tired of my ecu.

Though, making this light work isn't really hard, if you know what you're doing then you should be good. If you're not comfortable working around your ecu, then I recommend not doing it.
