Hello all, been a lurker for about a day now. My first accord was a 1986 Honda Accord LX sedan hand-me-down from my Mom, when she purchased a newer car back in 95. It was a great little car. Back then, I wasnt "too" into modding...even when the "import scene" had been booming at the time. I was a broke college kid, modding was out of the question. The most expensive thing I paid for on the car was replacing the exhaust with a magnaflow from a local muffler shop because i wouldn't pass inspection.
Flash forward to now, I picked up a 1999 Accord EX I4 for dirt cheap - $500 cheap! Here's why it's cheap, the windshield and rear window had been vandalized by some punks; they shattered the rear window and punctured the windshield. (I got quoted by SafetyLite to replace both windows for $525, labor and additional materials included, sweet deal - I scheduled to get them replaced next week.) The owner didn't want to deal with changing the windows out so he bought himself a new Honda Civic; go figure. Other than that, everything runs, the interior is clean, it's a 5spd and the sychros aren't out of whack. The paint on the other hand needs some TLC, nothing that a high speed buffer cant handle.
I thought about flipping it and making some profit, but I found the car pretty comfortable to drive and I was also in the market for a Sedan - I have a 1yr old toddler and another baby on they way. Other rides I have are a 2004 G35 coupe and a 2008 Nissan Titan. Fitting a Recaro car seat in the G35 isn't a problem...though, worming in the back seat to get my Son buckled in is a chore. Fitting the car seat in the Titan would make me uncomfortable - i would have to sit more forward and still having my Son kicking at the back of my seat. I thought about trading the Titan for a 06 M45 at one point, but that's just creating another loan i don't need.
So here I am, done with school some years later with a healthy appetite for modding, already conjuring up my immediate mod list. Some 5Zigen 17" ZR+520 wheels and, a galore of Neuspeed suspension parts: Koni dampers and springs, sway-bars and ties. I have intentions of running this car in SCCA as well. In foresite, maybe a H22A swap from a CL Type-S or a turbo kit, maybe both - if that was the case, I'm keeping this car forever.
