Wait... now does the tire foam clean off all the grease and everything? Also, what do you mean clean it by hand... just with a rag or something? And do you just spray the tire foam everywhere in the bay, or just directly on the engine?
What i do, take an entire can of tire foam, spray down the whole engine bay. That means the inner fender wells, any plastic, well, basically everything. Cover up your intake with a bag if it's exposed. Do it with your engine warm as well. Then, after half an hour or so, wipe it down with a rag, and just lightly spray it down with water. Only use a fine mist so you arn't getting into any electrical connections. Get most of the water off, start your engine (with the bag removed of the intake, or anything else you want to protect. Then you are good to go.
I've spend hours with simple green and other ways. This is so much easier, about 10 min of actual work, 45 min total, mostly waiting. Should look brand new.
