Should you just get a temporary ban?

Would temporary bans be excessive?

I'm with others saying temp bans will deter potential new members from the forum, but it's a really hard call. Is there a way to limit who can enter the FS section by post count? If so then I will vote no. Otherwise, while I realize it's faults, I'd rather make it easier on the mods and allow temp bans.

like some who said it before me restrict certain access to parts of the forum unless 50+ or even 100+ but regulate their post not just 1 liners or an emocon...JMO

on other forums i know it won't let you post a new topic if you don't have enough posts. like v6p (which i've come to pretty much hate) but anyways can you make that topic specific?

im not sure how hard this would be to implement...

but let's say a new member tried to access the classifieds forum to post something for sale, why dont we have something that if ur less than 50 posts it says...

"you're not authorized to view this thread until you have 50 posts (yadda yadda yadda)"

that way you guys would only have to regulate threads that don't have pictures etc isntead of closing 4-5 threads a day because users don't have enough posts

I agree with the idea of the FS being a unaccessible thread for less than 50 posts users.

I don't really think restricting access to the classifieds forum would be such a great solution. It could potentially make anything a lot harder to sell on the site with such a reduced buyer base.

In some other forums, when you sign in you are redirected to a page saying "The moderators require you view this thread before proceeding to the forums" with a link to the thread that must be clicked, or it doesn't let you go any further. This could be implemented for new users, where some basic rules must be read through before moving on to the rest of the site.

Easy fix, restrict the access to FS and WTB sections to users with 100+ posts. Then they can't post threads in the sections, and no one has to stay "busy" locking threads and banning people over nonsense. N00bs don't read the rules, and therefore, don't follow said rules. Banning them for their own ignorance is just mean.

i kinda agree...except that people with less than 50 posts can buy...just not sell...so we really need to make a group where people with less than 50 posts can only make new threads in the intro and member's ride forums....

This is the best Idea I've seen yet, this would also encourage new people to search for information.

I agree with Cody 100% too. Over this past weekend I think I closed about 5 FS threads and handed out infractions with each one.

I also added a rule to the Rules for posting FS Threads. That being, that it is not permitted post something for sale for someone that has less than 50 posts. This should kinda be a no brainer, but the issue came up this weekend, so I figured I'd put it in writing.

Temp ban would be a little much. I like Danny's idea as well.

Because let's be honest.... almost all threads created by ppl with less than 50 posts range from "Crappy" to "Facepalm" status. lol. Use the post count to limit where/what members can do. And continue to use the infractions as necessary.

It wouldn't be true, because I don't think 6GA is an "elitist" community, but I'd hate for that to be the word that gets out about our forum. Even if spread by only 1 or two people...
