Im sure ryan will chime in, but dont base quality soley on rms power. I cant quite remember what the other factors are but ryan probably will

they were probably W0s or W1s...meh.

the thing about JL stuff is...its expensive :lawl: buying it authorized makes it that much more expensive. to an extent you're paying for the name...and for a warranty...and for a dealer who can take your defective item and swap in another on the spot. now...is that worthwhile?

ryan, suggetions on a amp? to power 2 subs around 300rms-600rms to both subs, you should help me find one im going to pick out my amp first then pick out subs based on what i get but it looks like im going to go for the alpine type rs 12 inch subs i mean if i end up not liking them i can just sell them and buy some new subs no problem! but i want to get a good amp i wont have to replace for a while.

at the moment, i'm big on efficiency and small size. in 2011, i dont see a reason to have a HUGE amp that pulls 40A at half volume because it's wasting 70% of that current, as a typical class AB amp does.

an Alpine PDX-1.600 has 80A worth of fusing but used, it's decently cheap ($200-250). the JL XD 600/1 has an unregulated power supply so it does 600w @ 2 ohms with the car running. the kenwood XR-1S is a superb value and i've never seen anyone disappointed with them...i think it also does 600 @ 2 ohms and is about the same price as the alpine.

so, notice these amps are tiny :lawl: its pretty easy to find a good class d sub amp...but, why not get a small one that takes up no space? if you do end up only getting subs for the moment, all the amps i mentioned will fit inside the space-saver spare for a totally stealth install...if you rig up a mount, of course.

Whenever people see's my alpine PDX 1.1000 they always take a little giggle at it until they see how much power it provides. I like Alpines new M12, same exact size as any other PDX, but it's WHITE and produces more RMS.

I don't know, but these small PDX are sure going to be my favorite type of amp design.

i got a PDX 4.100 the other day, for an obscene price :lawl: i LOVE how they're all the same size.

going to see if anyone wants to trade for a PDX 5. 75w x 4 + 300 x 1 is enough for me since i have that as it is, only at 80 x 4. and my trunk is taken up by amps. and they can dim my headlights. and 15 minutes of half-volume playback kills the battery enough not to start the car.

can't WAIT to get a good class d in the car...finally

the M12 amp is black, although the marine version is like a silver/white...which looks hot. (i'm not trying to be a know-it-all...i was actually on alpine's site this morning looking at amps :lawl:). i'd love to do a PDX M install in a white car and carry the brushed trim into the interior

Nice, I've been searching for a Alpine PDX 4.100 or 4.150 to power my front speakers and maybe my 6x9's. But people usually sells it for too much for
my likings. How much did you pick your pdx for?

I also like the fact that they are all the same size, no matter how much power they put out. They look pretty nice being stacked up if they were built in a frame of some sort.

$50, brand new :peek:

i wish the stacking kit was engineered to have the amps sit vertically. alpine doesn't like that too much and says that violates the warranty :lawl: i can think of a couple applications where that would be really beneficial, but i guess they want the heat of the bottom one to travel upwards to the top one...

Those kenwoods are cool, and you can find bargains on ebay. Seen a couple of the xr1's and xr4's going for <200
