and what I'm saying is it doesn't take rocket science to create a header for a 4 cylinder engine.

how much R&D could they do for christ's sake, it's four pipes bridged into one at a flange and then a downpipe with a flex part.

At the same time, its not the same as the factory header, so they aren't recreating anything.

you might want to google "exhaust scavenging"

oh wait...here you go.

so basically i bought a set of bosch platinum +4 from Autozone a while back.
i installed them and they were fine and i told my dad about it, who was a mechanic,
and he told me that the bosch ones were BAD for the car. and that I could only put NGK or Denso spark plugs. ( now i am running on NGK iridiums)
anyone knows why this is?

not sure why, but i guess my experience differs from your and Nikita's experience....when i worked at Strauss and Autozone, the majority of people who bought Bosch Platinum's ended up coming back and cursing me out.

Even though they asked for them, they claimed i sold them bad plugs, but after getting the right plugs, they'd come back and tell me it was the spark plugs. Happened more than a few times.....just kinda curious why?

DCsports headers. ;] NGK plugs. ;] injen intake. ;]

Bosch... Well, they make money, somehow...

But NGK comes in everything from Jappin. Makes sense to put it back in there right?

Youre dad is a smart man. Bosch spark plugs suck. They often dont work, or dont given the proper ignition that they are supposed too. And, as expensive as they are, they truely arent worth it.

We only use NGK at my shop from everything from 130whp civics to 600whp EVO's. NGK or Denso are the only way to go.

100% agree here. Often if we pull a plug at the shop and see if it's a Bosch we'll just replace it with OEM to cover our own ***.

As far as Bosch spark plugs and Honda ignitions go... they have a higher internal resistance than NGK plugs, which, in time, will kill the ignition coil. Resistance is good, it increases the firing voltage, which makes a hotter spark, but Bosch plugs are about 20,000Ω higher than NGK plugs (we had to test them in school).

It's the same story with non-OEM plug wires, they have a specific internal resistance as well and many aftermarket wires are much higher than OEM. The funny part is all you guys buy this bull**** because they write "Performance" on the package and increase the price. If you know anything about ignition, it's VOLTAGE not CURRENT that makes a hotter spark so you're big *** neon green plug wires aren't doing you any good.

Combine your 2 ****ty products to the coils secondary circuit, add some strenuous driving to the mix and boom, you've burned up a coil in no time. High rev, no load conditions (read: downshifting or coasting, plus running lean mixtures) add a ton of stress to an ignition system.

Dude, think about that question for a minute.

Why does Megan make headers?

Why does Phantom Grip make LSDs?

Why does OBX make anything?

Because people buy this garbage!!

The only good things that I've seen Bosch make are racing fuel pumps and Motorsports ABS computers.

Agreeing with you 100% again. Don't forget, Bosch makes an excellent relay! :lawl:

Gonna fuel the fire and ask, what's wrong with Bosch o2 sensors, as they seem to be the popular option in terms or replacement and they come stock with many wideband controllers. I know you said universal o2 sensors, but do you also feel the same way about Bosch wideband o2 sensors?

Sorry about offtopic OP, I'ma let you finish, but in addition I think that there may be a useful discussion brewing here.

They're popular because they're readily available and generally cheaper than OEM.

If I ordered through my shop, I can get a Bosch for $60 vs. $115 for a Denso from Honda.

If worked in the racing industry for a few years now, I know what works, what doesn't, what breaks, what makes power and I certainly know know what NOT to buy.

False, what you've done is become a know-it-all with the inability to correct people in a socially acceptable manner.

I'm sure the difference of one to two horsepower between headers was exciting the first time around for you, but I don't care.

Also, $1400 header? We're talking about Accords here.

If a megan header is still working after all this time with no problems, then where is the sense in paying double for a DC Sports one? I'm not autoxing like you, ever entered the real world long enough to consider that?

You say it's been a few years you've been working in the race industry, well it's been three years since I put on the header and it's been fine from day one. Your entire career or w/e in the span of a "working just fine" header's lifespan (and still working), where's the logic in that double pricing now based on the claim that you've "seen things" and you "know what you're talking about"?

It's not a matter of putting down power to a lot of people on here, it's just for looks dude. Remember that, and try not to be too disgusted.

if you're going to use lmgtfy, at least start out by using it to respond to someone saying they're too lazy to look something up, or even had a notion that they needed to have it looked up in the first place.

you just look like a fool now.

wow.......i missed this thread entirely

since we are in a pissing match with just a string on connection to the original post, i ask this to Nick. other than damage to the exhaust, header, what problems would arise from me removing my flexpipe for a straightpipe. i am lowered and this is not voluntary, but my flexpipe ripped so i need advice
