i wish you luck on this..

i am glad that you have a passion in something and are serious about it. i always thought stormchasing/tornadoes were really cool, but i'm just too much of a pussy to go near one or go look for one on purpose at that..

Hey guys i am majoring in meteorology and i want to chase tornadoes for the rest of my life. I am converting my fully blacked out v6 sedan into a chasing vehicle. I had a few questions. I have designed a brush guard for my car but i dont want to spend a lot of time and money having one built. Would there be any brush guard out there that might mount on our accords. I was going to add a winch and some lights on it. I also designed hail guards to protect my windshield, side windows, and rear window. i will post my designs on later when i find them.

Sorry, I guess I missed where you said you were going to get reinforced suspension to handle all the extra weight of what you want to put on the car, as well as the plans you had in place to upgrade your tranny because of the additional strain you will be putting on it trying to off road PLUS having all that extra weight.

Oh, as well as the necessary skid plates that you'll have to weld to protect your oil pan/header/flex pipe and pretty much the entire underside of your CAR, since there was no discussion of raising it higher than stock height(WHICH, will need to be that much higher because of the additional weight you are putting on the car).

:dumb:(I want one of those)

Goodluck with this. Atleast your passionate about something, unlike a ton of humans these days that don't ever think outside their little boxes or brains. BUT I would think the accord would fail big time. I would venture to say that you would be a lot better with something AWD.... A manual tranny... and quite a bit more power.

It just seems that by the time you spend all that extra money on the accord you could have traded in the accord and got a beater truck which would already be better than the accord. BUT Good luck.

Guys lets just stop bashing his idea. I think its cool, if you have a hobby and not all the resources you would like, you just have to make what you have work.

It's not bashing, it's making sure that he thinks about all aspects of converting a FWD Accord in to a Storm Chaser vehicle. If he had said he wanted to do it with a Toyota Tundra, many of the posts in here would be different, including mine.
