I realized that I haven't updated this thread in a while. We've just started to slow down a bit, so I had some time to snap a few pics.
We have an e39 M5 at the shop that had a CEL for an idle air controller. For some reason the customer went to 3 different dealerships for this issue, and none of them could figure it out. (probably because they only use the computer for diagnostics, and don't actually look at any of the components.) So I went at it. It ended up that even though the IACV had been replaced, it was seized up with carbon. I cleaned it all up and its good to go now. I put new gaskets on everything and put it back together.
Those trumpets are so sexy!
MMMMMMMMMM Power!
We're also doing the axle seals on the rear diff of the M5. I have to do the same thing on my M3,
Its a heavy b!tch.
A couple pics of some other projects we have around the shop. . ..
We are running 2 rally cars next season. The EVO was shipped over from Ireland as a group N car, we in the process of making an Open class car. The engine is being stroked to a 2.3l, and we'll be running the Tomei ARMS 7960 turbo doing a bunch of other work to the engine/car before the season starts.
That's the old, super heavy, super thick sump guard resting on the new carbon/Kevlar sump guard. The weight savings is close to 60lbs!
We also plan on running our 07 STi in the Super Production class. She needs a fresh motor, under guards, and new cluster, and some general TLC. We won Rally New York with this car, but at a hell of a price. The car came back beat to fvck.
Stuffed in between the rally cars is our forever-project, the BMW 2002 with a fully built SR20DET engine. Its been getting all sorts of love these days. Bill had been working on the steering column diligently. The car is being totally re-engineered to get this project completed.
Its also getting some custom Volk TE37 Vintage wheels. They are currently being made in JDM land.
And a couple pics of some of the shop cars. . .
The Maxi is resting, waiting for next season. Bill just got a sweet Pi Dash for it. (Sorry, no pics).
Alex's EVO II is getting some serious work done. After a slight off during the Okemo HillClimb last summer, the whole front end needed to be rebuilt. So Bill is fabricating a new rear engine mount so allow the exhaust to have a better, cleaner routing under the car. Also coming this winter is a new, one-off, DSG turbo manifold for a new GT30R snail. The beast will live again.
The EG next to the EVO is going to be one of the sickest EG's we've ever built. We have a k24 bottom end being built at Laskey Racing. Its going to be 12.5:1, with a p&ped, fully built k20 z3 head. We have Hytech grinding some custom cams and fabbing up a header to got with them. It should make somewhere upwards of 240whp and close to 210lbft at the wheels. Its gonna RIP!
