    stock rims (steelies)

Haha. I usually just used them without the hubcaps (as seen in my signature photo). But the car is long gone.

Moving on from the Accord - 2011 WRX Hatch

Whiteline makes solid bars so the are fairly firm for their diameter (compared to hollow bars). The 22mm bars are decently stiffer than stock, but nothing crazy. I don't want the car overly stiff. Getting a good balance was more important to me, and I'm not looking to lift the rear tire on a...

Yes, that's pretty much correct. This photo shows it a little better. You can see that the pinion and diff for the front wheels is inside the tranny. For the rear wheels the center diff is just behind the stuff in the photo above. Coming out behind that is the driveshaft. That goes back...

No, there isn't really any slipping or grabbing with any of the gears. In either style all of the gears are always meshing with each other (as seen in the photos). The gears spin freely on the shaft until they are locked in place when you shift into the gear. The difference between the two...

Haha. I get to open it up at least a couple times a day usually. It's a little much to be flooring it in the city, though, so mostly highway. I usually go to the track once or twice a year. Last year I did the road course once and the drag strip once. This summer I did a mini road course...

Moving on from the Accord - 2011 WRX Hatch

No, not at all! Sorry if I was misleading. Most of that power came from adding the turbo and increasing the boost. Along with this I had done all bolt on's, and a new motor. The exhaust and headers were just the last bolt on's I needed to do. They gained me 30-40HP more. Thanks! I wanted...

The clutches aren't really that bad. Mine held a year of around 400WTQ. It started slipping when I got closer to 500WTQ, so I had to swap in an ACT 4 puck clutch. It's a lot less fun around town, but it's been holding the torque just fine.

I don't know if anyone is still interested, but here are some updated photos and videos. Blew the stock 5 speed, so I upgraded to PAR 5 speeds gears (straight cut 1st and 2nd): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2NW35_2LFM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpzzHuaPLnc...

Many people hate it for daily (for the reasons I already mentioned). If you have the setup for it (and tune for it), then it can make a lot more power. If you're running an NA car or are untuned, then it will probably worse in every possible way. Do a Google search. Lots of info on this...

Ask anyone with a turbo who tunes their car. Would you rather have 91 octane or 105 octane (E85)? You'll make loads more power on E85 and it's way cheaper too. E85 is like a godsend to people who want power and have it available locally. There are some downsides (lower mileage, need higher...

Moving on from the Accord - 2011 WRX Hatch

On a turbo'd car you can push boost and timing a lot higher with E85. It has an effective octane of well over 100. It's like race gas for super, super cheap. Downside is 25% lower gas mileage, but who cares when it makes as much power as race gas that costs $10/gal or more. California has...

E85 is in the $2.90's right now for me, and Premium is in the $3.90's, so the price works out to be pretty similar. And it adds 50+ HP :)

Moving on from the Accord - 2011 WRX Hatch

The WRX vs. STI is a tough choice. The STI is basically $10k more. For that $10k I now have a 460WHP car (vs. the STI is about 240WHP stock). But the STI still has the stronger 6 speed tranny and Brembo brakes (plus many other smaller things). The tranny and brakes would cost me $5-7k...

Moving on from the Accord - 2011 WRX Hatch

Thanks! I have probably spent $7k on power mods and another $3k+ on suspension/wheels/tires. The stock motor cracked a piston with the new turbo, so I swapped in a new shortblock. Motor Swap Info: 2004-05 STI Case 2010 STI Crank Balanced 2005 STI Rods Balanced Coated JE Billet...

Moving on from the Accord - 2011 WRX Hatch

I found an old video today, so I decided to do a comparison. I added a little back story too :) Here's the story of my cars: I borrowed various cars from my parents throughout high school (all had less than 150HP), but didn't buy my first car on my own until spring of 2006. It was a 1999...

Simple Green Engine Bay Cleanup (Non-Accord Content)

Not sure if this goes in the "Detailing" section or the "DIY" section. This section seemed good enough. Feel free to move it it deemed necessary. I "detailed" my engine bay tonight. Basically just followed what thousands of other people have done and posted online: Started with a...

Not sure if anyone here really cares, but I dropped it some more and took a few more photos... Currently has bolt on's and an E85 tune. It does around 350WHP and 380WTQ :)

The switch to E85 was a huge jump over Stage 2 pump gas. I'm really happy with how it's performing now. Much, much quicker than stock.

    Strasse Forged Photoshoot: Nissan 370Z

Great shots! I enjoy seeing the lighting setup as well :) Are you using 800's or 1600's? Do they have any problem keeping up on a sunny day? I really like the balance you have between ambient and strobe, really makes the colors POP without being too obvious. I think I like #6 best...
