Re: Russianred's Turbo Build Thread!

Due to a few requests, I'll explain in depth how I sealed the leak with a setup using the Blacktraxx IACV adapter.

The top and bottom bolts that tighten IACV to block are 10mm.
The third bolt that tightens the IACV to Blacktraxx plate is an odd 13mm.

Jack up the car and place on jackstands.

Next, take off any charge/cold air piping and strut bars that are in the way - you will need as much room as you can get.

Now take your jack, and jack up the rear side of the block/tranny. This allows for maximum clearance at the rear of the intake manifold. In my case this was the only way to plug and unplug the wire clip into the IACV.

Remove the IACV bolts, clean Blacktraxx plate with carb/choke cleaner. Also clean the mounting location of plate on intake manifold to get any particles out.

Now you are ready to put on the sealant. I used HondaBond, which works wonderfully! Spread it evenly around the perimeter of the two holes. When tightened down, it will flatten out and create a solid seal. Make sure there are no bubbles in the HondaBond.

Put HondaBond around the perimeter of the 2-wire IACV itself. I know there is a gasket there already, but adding extra sealant never hurts.

After applying the HondaBond on both components, let it dry until it is very goey and beginning to dry. Do not wait too long though.

Now apply plate back to the intake manifold, align holes, and tighten down the bottom bolt to keep it in place.

Line up the IACV and place it in position to insert and begin threading top bolt.

Take the third bolt that tightened specifically the IACV to Blacktraxx plate and get it threaded on there. Now go back to your top bolt and tighten it down as much as the bottom bolt is. Do not over-torque your bolts!

Lastly, tigthen the third bolt down.

Replace everything - remember to plug in everything the way it was before!

Let everything dry for an hour or so, or more if time allows.

I hope this helps out those who are doing their turbo in this fashion. It's really not hard, just not a fun place to reach around haha.

I bought it off a person who also had a turboed Accord. I am pretty sure piping is made by Drag, and it's a Drag intercooler as well.
