Re: Russianred's Turbo Build Thread! *UPDATED 5/25*

I think way back when I was first building the turbo setup, one of the guys here sent me like a 4ft long steel braided oil feed line. Since I already sourced another one which was sufficient in length for my oil feed, I used it and put the longer one in storage. Now, as my cheap nylon oil PSI hose began leaking everywhere, I decided to utilize the convenient 4ft line with the 3 AN end. I'm going to mate it to a 1/4 adapter from the 3 AN. Then from the 1/4 adapter to the 1/8. Then the 1/8 copper tubing to 1/8 gauge inlet. Reason for this complication is because it was IMPOSSIBLE to source a 1/4 NPT to 1/8 compression fitting for the Sunpro 1/8 line outlet on the gauge. Looked everywhere and just decided to buy the copper tubing kit, since it could easily adapt to my setup (needed adapters were included), and it would be easier to feed into small places, as opposed to the thick steel line.

SIKE!

:hide:

Sorry, figured I'd give ya'll a nice shot of adrenaline. I ain't one to pull no cudablack, momma din't raise no fool!

Here are the rewards which I reaped.

Video of priming the turbo with fresh oil while the distributor is unplugged. This was my sign that there were no mechanical cycling problems with the engine:

Video of the FIRST fire-up of the car after the rebuild. Ah, felt so good when it cranked half-a-turn and fired up so fresh, even nicer than it ever has before.

Idle issue with my IACV has been worked out. Air/Fuel readings are consistent with my previous tune. Temperature is perfect. Oil pressure system has been revamped with copper oil line mated to a steel braided hose tapped to the block. Leakless system with much better accuracy and fluid movement than I had before. Vacuum stable at 20, as it normally was before the project.

Let me know what you think!

Thanks man! Yeah the videos are short, but they get the point accross. I'm just happy that it fired up flawlessly first try, I'll toot my own horn and say that I'm impressed with myself, as this was my first internals-related 6GA experience. It definitely is a thrill to dig into our engine. I was amazed at the simplicity of everything. The trick is to do everything the correct way it should be done - the consideration, or failure to consider a microscopic detail can mean EVERYTHING.

The AEM wideband I bought all together as a kit, it was $200 shipped. I'm sure you can source the gauge and wideband sensor seperately, for maybe even cheaper, but $200 shipped is a good deal for the AEM UEGO wideband controller as it is, so I snagged it when I was amidst the early shenanigans of stage 1.
