Hey guys I'm going to be purchasing pretty much a whole new set up within the next month. I've read as much as I could and alot of this info is helpful. I'm looking into some motegi racing sp10 rims for my 02 silver cg3 4cyl. I kinda want the 18x8's but don't know if they will rub. I'm planning on doing some track days eventually so I don't want any rubbing. I'm unfortunately all stock right now figured I'd started from the ground and work my way up. So 18x8's or 17x7's? Figured I'd ask the pros! Lol also im going to be putting in a KSport coilover setup hoping for about a 1 finger gap all around if that helps. Sorry for being a noob!

no problem sir. my stockies got raped by those pinch welds
My tires right now are hitting this up front and it's so annoying. The pinch weld keeps cutting into the tread and makes a little strip of rubber that flaps around when I drive. Sounds all funky hitting the fenders and whatnot and then it gets ripped off and gets quiet lol.

This is on my to-do list.

the offset spec listed on tire rack is 17x7's +40mm
same for the 18x8's

Well most will say, get coilovers first because big wheels look silly at stock height. Depending on how much you lower it, 17x8 +40 should fit no problems if you were lowered by around 2-3 inches.

7 is wayyyy too skinny. 17x9 are actually ideal if you ask me but in your case I would find another rim if those don't come at least 8 wide. If you're actually serious about the track that is.
