I have a small MIG with gas, but I took it to a professional with a nice TIG setup. I'll be doing very little welding myself on this manifold.

Amazing progress Jason, been looking forward to seeing this!

I'm right behind you as soon as I'm nice and settled with these CD5's I been playing with.

Took care of several smaller projects this weekend. Tore down the new calipers to bake them. Quite a learning experience trying to get the pistons back in there with the dust boot on, but finally pulled it off!

Refinished and repainted my valve cover with plugs and vent bungs installed.

Found out that the wide angles of my manifold's collector have placed the flange too high.

So I'm considering a spacer/adapter like this, but with a 90* bend for the wastegate instead of straight.

Minor setback tonight. I decided to take off work tomorrow and finish some things up, including dropping the motor in. The problems began when I started installing the clutch. The alignment tool wouldn't fit inside the flywheel because the pilot bushing is in the way/too small. I griped about it for a few minutes, then moved on. Got the pressure plate installed and went to install the trans. Lined up fine, but the trans wouldn't slide flush to the block. After 20 min, I gave up and pulled the trans out. Looks like the stupid pilot bushing was in the way again and wasn't letting the input shaft slide in. I'm tempted to remove the damn thing altogether, but want to speak to the mfg first. That will have to wait till tomorrow.

Dude those Legend pistons are a bear to install, I didn't enjoy it at all lol. Did you do something to the mounts to get the engine to sit further back, there is so much room. Maybe it is because of that tiny radiator.

Optical illusion. Any further back and the IM would be IN the firewall.

The welder who tacked the first two runners is about 30 min south of here. He's stated it's going to take 2.5-3 hours minimum to fully weld it, and charges ~$100/hr; he's not very confident about the collector though. I've contacted another welder about 30 min east of here who will hopefully take a look at it tomorrow and give me a quote.

I tried out some alternative mounting methods for the turbo and found them quite interesting.

I even finished up the number 2 and 3 runners today.

I've been educating myself about MIG welding by reading and watching instructional videos on Youtube. Was able to tack these runners myself using my dad's compact MIG machine.

Thought this was the finished product until I noticed runner #3 was looking kinda weird.

I broke it off and tacked it again with a little adjustment.

Now I've removed the flanges and going to mark the runners/collectors tomorrow before I take it to get welded up. I think I'd like to have the ends of the runners machined after it's all welded together so they're all perfectly flush before welding the flange on.

I also began working on the interior and wiring this weekend.

Next weekend I'll be routing and mounting the oil lines, wiring up the gauges from the dash to the bay, and begin installing the engine harness. That's just the start...

Kudos to you for all the time, effort, money, and will spent on this project man. It'll all pay off in the end and the fact that you put the insides together with your own hands will make it just that much more enjoyable to drive.
